Escape
Cubans run through the streets in the tiny fishing village of Cojimar, Cuba as they make their way towards the ocean to launch their raft for South Florida.
There were various contraptions coming out of Cuba during the summer of 1994. Cubans used inner tube rafts, wooden planks strapped onto steel water drums, long series of inner tubes bound together with rope and surrounded by sheet metal (which served as a guard rail), inner tubes strapped to a thick Styrofoam float (which protected the tubes from bursting in rough weather) and convoys of boats chained together.
